About Svelte Rogue

svelte rogue is a tennis addict who used to believe that rafa nadal will never be number one as long as roger “his royal majesty” federer kept hitting sliced backhands and beautiful inside-out forehands.  now that nole djokovic has taken over the #1 spot from the serb’s magical run in the wimbledon 2011 series, svelte rogue knows that her boy will bounce back — as he always does — as long as he stays healthy.

svelte rogue is enamoured by formula sport, particularly formula one. her soulmate driver is ayrton senna. although she never saw him race, she has found herself weeping inconsolably over the fact that he was taken from F1′s legendary annals on a gloomy may day in 1994 at imola. it was the presence of two laconic finns, mika hakkinen and kimi raikkonen, who raised her interest in the sport.

svelte rogue follows football, too. she used to follow american football (NFL) when she was much younger but has since lost interest in watching men in padded helmets heave themselves all over the field to cater to a tv audience of beer guzzlers (read: rednecks). her team of choice is fc barcelona and, in 2011, the philippine azkals.

lastly, svelte breathes the benign philosophies of aikido and katori shinto-ryu, martial art forms she started practising seriously in 2003. she is surely a work in progress and loves her bokken dearly. it is made of japanese white oak and came into her possession in a most special way that only she knows of and holds close to her heart.  svelte also loves to swim and bike.
